Statement

of the Dean of the Faculty of Biology of the Jagiellonian University of 13 May 2020

developed on the basis of Ordinance No. 46 of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University of May 12, 2020 on: principles of functioning of the Jagiellonian University from May 25, 2020 to September 30, 2020 and repeal of Ordinance No. 24 of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University of March 10, 2020 on counteracting the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus among the academic community of the Jagiellonian University and ordinance No. 28 of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University of March 13, 2020 regarding the introduction of an extraordinary working mode of the Jagiellonian University on: the rules for the implementation of didactic classes in the summer semester of the 2019/2020 academic year, organization of the summer examination session and course of diploma examinations (in connection with preventing and combating COVID-19)

  1. Applicable dates and organization of classes

1.1. At the Faculty of Biology of the Jagiellonian University, the organization of classes and summer examination session is as follows:

- didactic classes last until June 14, 2020,

- summer examination session takes place from June 15- 29, 2020,

- summer retake session takes place from September 1 - 15, 2020.

1.2. Didactic classes until the end of the summer semester, as well as examinations and credits in both dates of the summer session take place only in a remote form.

The exception is the "Nature photography" course implemented as a part of the Perfect University project, which will take place according to the schedule after the student's approval of participation on the date agreed by the course coordinator.

1.3. Schedules of exam sessions are announced on the websites of the Faculty's units along with information about the IT tool used to perform them remotely, i.e. the Pegaz e-Learning Platform or Office 365 (in particular MS Forms).

1.4. Diploma theses should be prepared on the basis of the data collected so far. In the case of insufficient data, the thesis may be supplemented with bibliographic data and meta-analysis.

  1. Organization of diploma exams

2.1. Diploma exams take place on dates specified by individual Institutes until July 30 this year.

2.2. All diploma exams are held remotely, using MS Teams.

2.3. The organization of diploma examinations taking place after this date will be specified in the next statement and adapted to the current epidemic situation.

2.4. The manner of conducting diploma examinations using MS Teams is specified in Rector's Order No. 41 of 29.04.2020 on the principles governing the organization of verification of obtained learning outcomes specified in the study program using information technology in connection with the prevention and combating of COVID-19.

2.5. For students who are unable to meet the requirements for diploma exams and indicated in the Rector's ordinance No. 41 of April 29, 2020, appropriate computer workstations in the faculty building will be made available after prior consultation with the Deputy Director of the Institute.

  1. Responsibility and supervision over the proper conduct of didactic classes, examination sessions and diploma exams

3.1. Teachers of all types and forms of study at the Faculty are required to prepare and remotely conduct didactic classes, exams, credits and diploma exams.

3.2. Supervision over the proper conduct of didactic classes, exams and diploma exams is exercised by:
- at first and second cycle studies - deputy directors of the institute,
- at doctoral studies - supervisors of doctoral studies,
- at postgraduate studies - supervisors of postgraduate studies,
- for courses implemented under the Erasmus + program - Erasmus coordinators and deputy directors of the institute.
3.3. The dean of the Faculty and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty for Student Affairs are responsible for the overall coordination of didactic activities.
