Systematyka: Badania oparte na analizie DNA nie potwierdziły rangi rodzin dla indyków (Meleagrididae Gray,GR, 1840) i głuszcowatych (Tetraonidae Leach, 1820). Przyjęty porządek systematyczny stanowi kompilację badań Kimball et al. (1999), Crowe et al. (2006b), Kimball & Braun (2008), Meng et al. (2008, 2011), Bao et al. (2010), Shen et al (2010), Kan et al. (2010) i Kimball et al. (2011). Pozycja systematyczna szeregu rodzajów wymaga badań filogenetycznych (Caloperdix, Melanoperdix, Anurophasis, Ophrysia, Galloperdix, Lerwa, Rhizothera). Rodzaj Ptilopachus tradycyjnie umieszczany wśród kurowatych okazał się być przedstawicielem rodziny przepiórów (Odontophoridae) (Crowe et al., 2006b, Kimball et al., 2011). Rodzaj Francolinus został podzielony na kilka mniejszych rodzajów: Pternistis, Francolinus, Peliperdix i Scleroptila (Crowe et al., 1992, Bloomer & Crowe, 1998, Crowe et al., 2006b, Bao et al., 2010, Kimball et al., 2011, Mandiwana-Neudani et al., 2011; zmiana zaakceptowana m.in. przez Hockey et al., 2005). Porządek systematyczny obrębie rodzaju: Perdix za Bao et al. (2010), Gallus za Kimball et al. (2011), Alectoris za Kimball et al. (2011).

Ortalis columbiana: gatunek ostatnio wyodrębniony z O. guttata (Ridgely & Greenfield, 2001, Restall et al., 2006, Donegan et al., 2010); split zaakceptowany przez SACC (Remsen et al.).

Pauxi: mitu, tomentosum, salvini i tuberosum są często umieszczane w odrębnym rodzaju - Mitu Lesson, 1831 (n.) (np. w del Hoyo, 1994, Dickinson, 2003), lecz zob. Frank-Hoeflich et al. (2007), Kimball et al. (2011).

Pauxi koepckeae: gatunek ostatnio wyodrębniony z P. unicornis (Gastańaga et al., 2011).

Ptilopachus nahani: tradycyjnie umieszczany w rodzaju Francolinus (Carroll, 1994, Dickinson, 2003), lecz zob. Crowe et al. (2006), Kimball et al. (2011). Ewentualnie gatunek ten powinien zostać umieszczony w odrębnym rodzaju - Acentrortyx Chapin, 1926.

Excalfactoria: rodzaj często włączany do Coturnix (Carroll, 1994, Dickinson, 2003), lecz zob. Crowe et al. (2006). Zmiana zaakceptowana przez Hockey et al. (2005), Christidis & Boles (2008).

Polyplectron: porządek systematyczny (gatunki) wg Kimball et al. (2001, 2011), Chang et al. (2008).

Polyplectron katsumatae: gatunek ostatnio wyodrębniony z P. bicalcaratum (Chang et al., 2008).

Scleroptila afra: syn. Scleroptila africana (Stephens, 1819) (zob. Zoonomen).

Polyplectron napoleonis: do niedawna podawany jako Polyplectron emphanum Temminck, ale nazwa napoleonis ma priorytet.

Lophophorus: porządek systematyczny (gatunki) wg Zhan et al. (2003).

Dendragapus fuliginosus: gatunek ostatnio wyodrębniony z D. obscurus (Drovetski, 2002, Barrowclough et al., 2004). Split zaakceptowany przez AOU (Banks et al., 2006).

Perdix dauurica: dauurica jest poprawną nazwą gatunkową (nie dauuricae).

Syrmaticus: porządek systematyczny (gatunki) wg Zhan & Zheng-Wang (2005), Kimball et al. (2011).

Lophura: porządek systematyczny (gatunki) wg Randi et al. (2001), Kimball et al. (2011).

Lophura edwardsi: Lophura imperialis (Delacour & Jabouille, 1924) (kiściec cesarski; Imperial Pheasant) jest mieszańcem L. nycthemera & L. edwardsi (Hennache et al., 2003).

Megapodius decollatus: wcześniej podawany jako Megapodius affinis Meyer,AB, 1874 (np. Sibley & Monroe, 1990), lecz okaz typowy affinis został ostatnio zidentyfikowany jako należący do M. reinwardt (Roselaar, 1994, Jones et al., 1995).
